No Oven Turkish Bread (Print-Friendly Version)

Soft Turkish flatbread made easily with simple ingredients and no oven needed. Great for dipping and wrapping.

# Ingredients You’ll Need:

→ Dough

01 - 4 cups bread flour or all-purpose flour (500 g)
02 - 2/3 cup warm milk (160 ml)
03 - 2/3 cup warm water (160 ml)
04 - 1 1/2 tablespoons instant dry yeast (10 g)
05 - 1 tablespoon sugar (10 g)
06 - 0.8 tablespoon salt (8 g)

→ Topping (optional)

07 - 1 1/2 tablespoons melted unsalted butter or olive oil (20 g)
08 - Chopped parsley

# How to Make It:

01 - Combine warm milk, warm water, sugar, and instant dry yeast in a bowl. Stir well to dissolve and activate the yeast.
02 - Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Stir until combined, then knead by hand until the dough is smooth and no longer sticky.
03 - Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, approximately 1 hour.
04 - Divide the dough into six equal portions. Shape each into a round ball and cover with a plastic bag to rest.
05 - Using a rolling pin, flatten each dough ball into a round about 7 inches (18 cm) in diameter and 0.2 inches (5 mm) thick.
06 - Preheat a thick-bottomed pan over medium heat on the stove.
07 - Place one rolled dough round onto the hot pan. Cook until bubbles form on the surface, then flip to the other side.
08 - When the bread puffs up like a balloon, reduce heat to low. Cover with a cloth to retain moisture while cooking through.
09 - Brush each cooked bread with melted butter or olive oil and serve warm.

# Extra Tips:

01 - Use a thick pan to ensure proper rising; thin pans inhibit dough expansion. Extra bread can be frozen for quick future meals.
