01 -
In a saucepan, add the water, unsalted butter, salt, and sugar. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to medium-low.
02 -
Gradually add flour to the boiling mixture, stirring vigorously with a wooden spoon until a smooth dough forms. Remove from heat.
03 -
Transfer the dough to a large bowl and cool for 4 to 5 minutes. Add the large egg and vanilla extract, then beat thoroughly with an electric hand mixer until fully incorporated and smooth.
04 -
Spoon the dough into a piping bag. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F. Lightly spray the fryer basket with nonstick cooking spray. Pipe bite-sized portions of dough into the basket, leaving space between each.
05 -
Brush the piped dough lightly with melted butter. Air fry in batches for 10 to 12 minutes until golden brown.
06 -
Mix granulated sugar and ground cinnamon thoroughly in a shallow bowl.
07 -
Transfer hot churros directly from the air fryer to the cinnamon sugar mixture. Toss gently to coat evenly. Serve warm, optionally with chocolate syrup, honey, or Nutella as a dip.
