Instant Pot Steel Cut Oats (Printable Version)

# What You'll Need:

01 - 1 cup steel cut oats
02 - 3 cups whole milk, or water (or half water and half milk; almond milk can also be used)
03 - Pinch of salt (optional)

# How to Make It:

01 - Pour 2 cups of water into the Instant Pot and place the trivet in the pot.
02 - Place an oven-safe bowl on the trivet that is large enough to hold the oats and liquid with extra room. Ensure the bowl doesn't touch the sides of the Instant Pot or prevent the lid from closing.
03 - Place the oats and milk (or water) into the bowl. Add a pinch of salt, if desired. Stir to combine.
04 - Place the lid on the Instant Pot and turn the steam release knob to SEALING. Press MANUAL or PRESSURE COOK and set the time to 15 minutes at high pressure.
05 - Allow approximately 7 minutes for the Instant Pot to come to pressure before the cooking time begins to count down.
06 - When cooking is complete, allow the pressure to release naturally for 15 minutes. Don't skip this step; the oatmeal continues to cook during this time.
07 - Turn the steam release knob to VENTING to quick-release any remaining pressure, then remove the lid. Carefully remove the bowl from the Instant Pot and stir well.
08 - If the oatmeal looks thin when first removed, let it sit for a few minutes to thicken. Add your favorite mix-ins and toppings, and enjoy!

# Handy Tips:

01 - To adjust servings, maintain a 3:1 ratio of liquid to oats (for 2 servings, use ½ cup oats and 1½ cups liquid). Cooking time remains the same.
02 - If your trivet doesn't have handles, create a sling using a long folded piece of aluminum foil for easy bowl removal.
03 - Recipe works in both 6-quart and 8-quart Instant Pots. For 6-quart models, reduce interior water to 1½ cups.
04 - For 3-quart Instant Pots, halve the recipe as finding a suitable bowl that fits properly can be challenging.
